The Queen Bee is Alcantara’s allegorical tribute to Mother Nature and the feminine figure. It gathers portrait, flower, veil, diamond, and maternal symbol into one visual language.

Ramon Alcantara was born in June 1960 in San Juan de la Maguana. He began painting in 1972 at the age of twelve and later studied color theory at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo.
Alongside his artistic practice, he pursued computer engineering and managed a computer center, maintaining drawing and portraiture as a constant discipline.
After twelve years in New York, he moved to Reading, Pennsylvania, where he found the professional space to complete the body of paintings now organized around The Queen Bee.

Ramon Alcantara was born in June 1960 in San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic. His connection to the visual arts began at an early age, and he started painting in 1972 at the age of twelve.
During his youth, he studied at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, where he received training in color theory. Although he maintained a lifelong dedication to drawing and portraiture, he also pursued a technical career and earned a degree in computer engineering.
Throughout his professional life, Alcantara balanced technical expertise with artistic vocation. He served as the manager of a computer center while continuing to paint sporadically.
He later relocated to New York, where he lived for twelve years. After New York, he moved to Reading, Pennsylvania, a transition that gave him the professional environment and flexibility needed to complete the collection of paintings that now forms his current body of work.
His artistic path includes important exhibition milestones in the Dominican Republic. He participated in his first collective student exhibition in 1974, followed by another collective exhibition two years later.
Before relocating to the United States, he held two solo exhibitions in Santo Domingo. His work is characterized by a mastery of portraiture, executed in both color and monochromatic or black-and-white formats.
Alcantara’s contemporary work finds its fullest expression in The Queen Bee, which he defines as an allegorical representation of Mother Nature and a profound tribute to the female figure.
Through a sequence of symbolic elements, the work explores life, creation, and unconditional love. It honors the unique capacity of women for conception and extends that maternal idea toward nature itself.
His poetic vision personifies nature through floral elements, a veil of greenery, and the brilliance of a diamond. For Alcantara, this allegorical approach embraces all maternal species, unifying nature and motherhood into one artistic narrative.
